Technology Assistance Grant (TAG)

The Technology Assistance Grant (TAG) program aids small Wisconsin high-technology businesses in their efforts to obtain seed, early-stage or research and development funding.

Eligible TAG project costs are professional services involved in the preparation and review of a federal R&D grant application; in obtaining industry information, data or market research needed to complete applications for R&D or early-stage funding; or in meeting specific requirements to obtain seed or early-stage funding from outside sources. Professional services must be provided by independent third party service providers listed in the WEN Private Sector Service Provider Directory. Providers not listed in the Directory may use the electronic application form to set up an account and create an online profile.

The maximum funding available for Technology Assistance Grants is 75% of eligible project costs up to $3,000. There is typically more demand for TAG funds than there are funds available. As a result, the application process is competitive and not all projects can be funded.

For more information, please view the detailed description of the TAG program (PDF).

To apply for TAG funding to assist in preparing an SBIR/STTR grant application, please complete and submit this Online Application.

To apply for TAG funding that will be used for something other than preparing an SBIR/STTR grant application, please complete this Online Application.

NOTICE: As part of the application process, a credit check will be performed.
