Anne Hlavacka, Director
Anne M. Hlavacka is the Director of the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Prior to taking that position in June 2010, Anne practiced law for over 20 years with Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., a large corporate law firm (200+ attorneys) headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. Her legal experience includes extensive work with general corporate and small business matters, government contracts, international/immigration law, dispute resolution, and compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements. Anne is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Marquette University Law School. She is admitted to the Wisconsin Bar; United States Circuit Court – Seventh and Ninth Circuits; United States District Court – Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.
Anne is a frequent guest panelist/presenter at various entrepreneurial and economic development programs. She has been recognized with the Business Journal of Greater Milwaukee Women of Influence Award (Mentor category), the Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Mentoring Award and the Small Business Administration’s Legal Assistance Award in Wisconsin. Anne is board member of the UW-La Crosse Foundation, Pump House Regional Arts Center, Coulee Region Business Center, Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corporation, and Lincoln Opportunity Fund.

Marie Rieber, Program Associate
Marie Rieber is the SBDC Program Associate who supports the day-to-day management of operations and activities for the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-La Crosse. Prior to working at UW-La Crosse, she worked for almost five years as a collections manager/curator for local history museums and then for over ten years at IBM providing technical support to clients, and writing and editing technical documents. Marie is a graduate of UW-La Crosse (bachelor degree, Geography) and Western Technical College (associate degree, Microcomputer Specialist Program). She holds a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University (Historical Administration). Marie manages the workflow, reporting functions, and data analysis of the federal grant program, including record management. She is responsible for SBDC general office communications, interfacing with clients, and paraprofessional administrative and programmatic work. Terri Urbanek, Consultant and Outreach Specialist
Terri Urbanek is a Business Counselor and Outreach Specialist at the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-La Crosse. She is involved in the development, promotion and provision of business counseling services, with a special emphasis on financial and business planning. She also is responsible for planning, promoting and managing the Center’s business education outreach activities. Terri is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (Accounting) and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Upper Iowa University-Fayette. Terri has over thirty years of experience working with a wide range of industries. She has provided ad hoc consulting services for not-for-profit and for profit organizations in the La Crosse area. Prior to joining the SBDC office, Terri worked in the credit union industry, serving in the positions of Director of Accounting, Vice President of Finance, and Internal Financial and Operations Auditor. She is an Examiner for the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence, a part-time adjunct business instructor, and a volunteer judge for the WI Yes program.
