The Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) offered by the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW campuses statewide provides the tools you need for business idea testing and business model improvement. Through instruction, guest speakers and coaching, the course serves those who are considering starting a business, owners of existing businesses, and those with successful companies that they want to grow.
Successful business owners have a plan -- let us help you build yours! Whether your business is expanding or brand-new, writing a business plan is critical to building a profitable venture, especially to attract financing from lenders or investors. Through instruction, guest speakers and coaching, the course serves those who are considering starting a business, owners of existing businesses wanting to get a handle on all the details, and those with successful companies that they want to grow.
ETP is an eight-week course that offers an easy to follow step-by-step process based on the lean startup framework that shows you how to
- Answer the question, "Will people buy my product or service?"
- Grasp your true operations, growth and staffing costs
- Gain knowledge of resources to start or expand
- Quickly develop an investment-ready business plan
- Better manage your business by analyzing key details
After the course, receive one-to-one counseling at no charge to help complete your business plan along with final steps to start your business.
You will receive:
- Professional instruction by experienced business owner
- Handout materials
- Business plan templates and software
- Presentations by local, industry professionals
Proven Impact. Since 2003, over 1,900 students have completed the class with over 50% starting a new business or growing their existing business.
Cost. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is offering qualified applicants Entrepreneurial Training Grants that cover most of the $1,000 course fee. The grant covers 75% of the tuition, reducing your cost to $250.
Grant recipients must meet attendance requirements, complete a business plan by six months after start of course and participate in at least one hour of no-cost business consulting with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Superior.
