Entrepreneurs benefit from UW-Madison, Sauk County partnership

MADISON – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Madison and Sauk County Development Corporation (SCDC) have partnered to improve service to local entrepreneurs as well as awareness of the no-cost support available to business owners in Sauk County.

The two groups will share client referrals to accommodate location preferences and consulting needs. They will also share reporting functions to better understand business trends in the area and adjust their services accordingly.

The SBDC and SCDC offer financial benchmarking, business planning, succession planning, training, strategic support and other free assistance, including the online class First Steps to Starting a Business. The SBDC also offers the Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) and other low-cost business education classes.

The organizations will adhere to strict confidentiality and non-compete requirements to best serve small businesses.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with the SBDC to make Sauk County businesses and entrepreneurs aware of all the services available to them,” said Ed White, SCDC Executive Director.

Michelle Somes-Booher, SBDC at UW-Madison Director, has organized boot camps and other efforts in the county over the past few years. “I am pleased to work with strong partners like SCDC to continue to find new ways to reach more small businesses.”
