SBDC and SBA attend Lenders Conference

The 35th Annual Wisconsin Lenders Conference, held on May 15 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, brought together financial professionals from across the state for a day of education, recognition, and networking.
Planned and hosted by UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education, with collaborative support from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC)  and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the event featured expert-led sessions designed to equip both emerging and experienced lenders with timely insights and industry updates. Speakers included representatives from the SBA, SBDC, RMA, and other leading financial and regulatory organizations.
Team members from SBDCs across Wisconsin were in attendance, demonstrating a shared commitment to strengthening the state’s lending community and supporting small business development.
A highlight of the conference was the keynote presentation by Scott Kunes, COO of Kunes Auto & RV Group, who explored how intentional organizational culture can fuel long-term success. The event also hosted the SBA Wisconsin Lender Awards Ceremony, recognizing lenders for their outstanding contributions to small business finance. This year’s ceremony included a special tribute to Eric Ness, SBA Wisconsin District Director, who is retiring after 35 years of impactful service. Under Ness’s leadership, SBA programs delivered over $18 billion in relief to more than 232,000 Wisconsin small businesses and nonprofits.
With a strong turnout, impactful sessions, and meaningful celebration, the Wisconsin Lenders Conference remains a cornerstone event for the state’s lending professionals.
