THE BUSINESS
This unique studio, 920 Wellness, started with two treatment rooms and has grown to house 23 wellness providers in one space. The collective community of independent contractors offer holistic wellness focused on physical, mental, emotional, and beauty services. For example, chiropractic services, mental health therapy, clinical nutrition, reiki, and massage are all available in addition to salon services for hair, nails, and other spa treatments.
Mikhaila said, “Our mission is the same for both locations: to provide love, support, and referrals to like-minded, independent business owners under one roof.” Clients benefit from the convenience of so many wellness providers in one space as well, obtaining a truly holistic experience that accounts for mental and social factors in addition to physical symptoms.
Mikhaila stated one of the toughest obstacles of being an entrepreneur is finding life balance. She said, “As an owner, a mom, a wife, and a chiropractor, I need to ensure I make time to provide self-care for myself, too.”
THE ASSISTANCE
The consultants at the UW Oshkosh Small Business Development Center (SBDC) helped Mikhaila in lots of ways. In 2022, when she first came to the SBDC looking for assistance with expanding her business, Tom McDermott helped her with networking. She said, “It was great to connect with so many Oshkosh resources like the Chamber and other local downtown businesses.”
She also worked with the Digital Marketing Clinic (DMC) at the SBDC where student interns helped with marketing and social media strategies. “The students gave me valuable tips on when to post and took a comprehensive look at my website, social channels, and other digital marketing platforms.” They helped to identify weaknesses and gaps and offered Mikhaila some simple and easy-to-implement solutions.
Anthony Preston, one of the students at the DMC, said, “Working with 920 Wellness Studio and Mikhaila was truly a pleasure. We were able to help her with brand cohesion including templates for social media, color coordination, and aesthetic influences to help content creation. It was an honor to be able to go to the physical location and capture video and photos to create content for her social media posts! I truly wish the best for 920 Wellness and Mikhaila.”
Mikhaila said in support of her goal to bring wellness to the surrounding area, she is working with the UW Oshkosh Kinesiology students and faculty as well. She has also formed a partnership with the Business Improvement District (BID) which was created to assist downtown business owners and coordinate their marketing, promotion, property management, revitalization, and retention program efforts.

The passion and commitment of this entrepreneur is certainly evident. Truly supporting other small business owners is one of the things Mikhaila enjoys most about her job. “I love providing chiropractic care at 920 Wellness, and helping other wellness providers to start their own business in our space is so inspiring!” she said.
