Program Manager
Heather’s areas of expertise include planning events, conducting leadership training, developing organizational partnerships, working with interns/young professionals, managing logistics/operations, developing training curriculum and onboarding.
Heather describes herself as a multi-potentialite, which means she has many interests, is energized by learning and enjoys creative problem-solving (much like our SBDC entrepreneurial clients!) Her career has included journalism, group fitness instruction, working for the Dane County Farmers’ Market, logistics and staff training for UW-Madison’s SOAR (orientation) program, university seminar instruction and recruitment—to name a few. She believes in solving problems by bringing together ideas from diverse fields and is able to bridge silos by helping to clarify thoughts, identify distracting information or connect seemingly disparate ideas.
One of the things Heather most enjoys about her job is learning lots of new content and connecting with the Madison entrepreneurial community. She looks forward to bringing her diverse experiences together to create meaningful learning opportunities for clients. Heather also enjoys finding ways to help clients better articulate their stories, expand their skills and use their strengths. She loves that her role in the SBDC can help give clients the skills to reach their goals.
Outside of work, she enjoys going to festivals, attending lectures/presentations and making connections with people through Zumba and other activities.
