Carr wins Packers Mentor-Protégé Mentor of the Year

Tara Carr, Director of the Small Business Development Center at UW-Green Bay, was awarded the 2024 Packer Mentor Protégé Program Mentor of the Year

The Packers Mentor-Protégé Program pairs emerging Wisconsin businesses (protégés) with established, knowledgeable and committed companies (mentors) to help provide exposure, resources and guidance in order to reach the next level of business growth. The Packer Mentor Protégé Program celebrated its 13th year, which focuses particularly on connecting with businesses owned by minorities, women, veterans, service-disabled veterans or disabled persons.

In 2023, Tara’s protégé, Sarah Salisott with The Foster Lane, won the Protégé of the Year award. Again in 2024, Tara’s protégé, Katie Oilschlager with Think Pawsitive Dog Training, won the Protégé of the Year award. Tara was recognized on March 19th at Lambeau Field for her impact in assisting entrepreneurs develop and implement their business growth strategies.

The Green Bay SBDC has received several awards within the past few years, which includes 2022 Wisconsin SBDC Center of the Year. Standout business consultant David Stauffacher is the only two-time Wisconsin State Star (2019 and 2023), voted by his peers for demonstrating exemplary performance and commitment to the growth of small businesses.
